We are delighted to announce that the WE Project – Real-World Education to Foster Environmental Awareness has been awarded the European Innovative Teaching Award (EITA) 2026 in the Adult Education category.
The European Innovative Teaching Award is an initiative of the European Commission that recognises outstanding Erasmus+ projects demonstrating innovative, interactive and inclusive approaches to teaching and learning. The award highlights practices that can inspire educators and learners across Europe and contribute to the continuous development of high-quality education.
The 2026 edition, under the theme “Skills for Life”, focuses on projects supporting the development of essential skills including literacy, mathematics, science, digital competence and citizenship. These skills are considered fundamental for lifelong learning, critical thinking, active participation in society and adapting to an increasingly complex and digital world.
A European Recognition of Our Joint Work
The WE Project was selected among the 2026 award-winning Erasmus+ initiatives from Latvia, receiving recognition in the Adult Education category. This achievement represents an important acknowledgement of the innovative educational methodologies, learning resources and collaborative work developed throughout the project.
Through close international cooperation, the WE partnership worked to connect education with real-life contexts, encourage environmental awareness and develop learning approaches that equip adults with knowledge and competences that can be applied beyond the classroom.
The award is therefore not only a recognition of the project itself, but also of the commitment, expertise and contribution of all WE Project partners who worked together throughout its implementation.
Keeping the Impact of WE Alive
Although the funded project period has concluded, the European Innovative Teaching Award gives new visibility to the WE Project and provides an important opportunity to continue promoting and using its results.
The recognition also reinforces the value of international cooperation and demonstrates how Erasmus+ partnerships can create educational resources and approaches with an impact that continues well beyond the formal lifetime of a project.
We are extremely proud of what the WE partnership achieved together and grateful to every partner, educator, participant and stakeholder who contributed to the project.
This award belongs to the entire WE community.
We look forward to seeing the project results continue to inspire educators and learners across Europe and to building on the cooperation and partnerships developed through WE.
